Automated drip irrigation system

On average, most irrigation systems are estimated to have an efficiency of 75-85% in water delivery. On the other hand, drip irrigation systems boast a 90% efficiency in water delivery. This is a huge amount of difference, especially in the long-run, when it comes to water consumption.

How does drip irrigation systems work?

Sprinkler systems which imitates natural rainfall causes the leaves and stems of the plants to get wet, thus, increasing the chances of the plant to suffer from mould and rot.

By using a drip irrigation system, we avoid exposing the plants to unnecessary risks of contracting diseases and rot problems. Watering excessively also leads to runoffs, which leaches the nutrient from the soil as the water washes away the essential minerals within the soil as well as the soil itself. 

By reducing excess water, we are also protecting the soil from erosion and nutrient leaching, which reduces the need to apply extra fertilisers or top up the soil and in turn lowers the costs of maintaining a garden. Therefore, drip irrigation systems are not only efficient in delivering water, they are highly cost-efficient too!
