Enhance the aesthetic look of your home
We’ve been creating high quality home & commercial gardens since 2005
For instance, a vertical garden refers to having potted plants fitted into a standing gardening structure while a green wall refers to a standing structure wrapped in naturally climbing creeper plants. The biggest difference between these two structures are how the irrigation system works.
For vertical gardens, the potted plants have no way of accessing a water source, thus the plants fully rely on an individual irrigation for their water and nutrient supply. Green walls are encouraged to have irrigation systems installed to speed up the plant growth process, but are not utterly reliant on the irrigation system as the plants’ roots can still be attached to the ground as they grow and entwine around the structure.
Why a vertical garden or green wall system? These standing gardens are similar to green roof structures, but are way more versatile. They can be as small as a picture frame or as big as an elephant-sized masterpiece, depending on the size of the wall.
Additionally, there are more vertical spaces that can be used as frameworks compared to rooftops and they are also more visible. Not to mention that lush greenery is therapeutic, soothing, and extremely beautiful. Thus, these standing gardens easily enhance the aesthetic look of an area and provide a calming atmosphere right in the middle of a busy city.
Quality Gardening & Maintenance Services
Vertical gardens and green wall systems are also a great layer of insulation against the high temperatures of Malaysian’s climate. As the plants absorb the light and heat from the sun, they prevent the heat from reaching the buildings and consequently help to lower the indoor temperatures.
Before installing a vertical system, there are many components to be considered. Firstly, consider the structure of the wall and the framework of your vertical garden structure.
The load-bearing capacity of the wall is very important, a heavy framework may cause the wall to break down. Another factor to consider is the sustainability of the system. How long the plants are expected to survive, how much water and nutrients do the plants require to sustain themselves, how will the irrigation system be set up, and how will the fertilisers be fed to the plants are among the questions that should be solved.
Lastly, and most importantly, what is your budget for the vertical system? Costs of installation vary depending on the materials of the structure, whether the wall needs to be reinforced, and what type of plants you choose. If you’re engaging the help of the professional, the cost would also be significantly different compared to a simple DIY job.
